The Spa & Wellness Treasures of Slovenia
Posted by TU Events on .
Dobova, Moravske Toplice, Mala Nedelja, Rimske Toplice, Kamnik, and Laško are home to Slovenia’s top spa and wellness destinations. In late January, the TU Events team, together with the Slovenian Tourist Board and Porsche SCG, organized a study trip to showcase Slovenia’s rich thermal offerings to Serbian travel agencies.
Connecting Travel Agencies with Thermal Destinations
For our second B2B study trip, we invited travel agencies eager to include Slovenian thermal spas in their portfolios. The participating agencies included:
Deus Travel (Novi Sad)
Dolce Vita Travel (Kragujevac)
Dream Travel (Novi Pazar)
Global Tourist (Subotica)
Belvi Travel, Fantast Travel & Avio, Evro-Tours, and Sunline Travel (Belgrade)
Given the extensive mileage planned for the trip, we traveled in the latest Volkswagen Transporter 2.0 TDI. This model proved to be highly comfortable and perfectly suited for transporting hotel guests or travel agency clients, earning our warm recommendation.
Award-Winning Spas and Styrian Wines
Our first stop was Terme Paradiso in Dobova, located right next to the Croatian border. In 2016, Terme Paradiso was named the best wellness center in Slovenia, and for two consecutive years, it won the award for the best small Slovenian spa.
Next, we visited Terme Vivat in Moravske Toplice, situated at the crossroads of Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia. It boasts an excellent location and beautiful pools, including a unique pool filled with black thermal water.
The following day, we visited the Marof Winery, about a 20-minute drive from Maribor. It is a perfect spot for guests to taste Styrian wines in a beautiful setting overlooking the vineyards. While near Maribor, a visit to Hotel Habakuk, located at the foot of the Pohorje mountain, is a must. Its large accommodation capacity, favorable prices, thermal pools, and proximity to both the city center and ski slopes make it a highly attractive option for Serbian tourists.
Historical Springs and River Retreats
We continued to Bioterme in Mala Nedelja. Excellently furnished rooms, great cuisine, and a management team highly receptive to Serbian tourists make these charming baths a great partner for our agencies.
Next were the renowned Rimske Terme (Roman Baths), comprising three luxuriously furnished hotels built around a thermal spring that is over two millennia old.
Heading from Rimske Toplice towards Celje, the route passes through Laško, a beautiful town on the Savinja River, guarded by Mount Hum. Famous for the Laško Brewery and the "Beer and Flowers" music festival held every July, it is also home to Hotel Thermana Park Laško. Our group enjoyed the pools here, and our gracious hosts organized massages for everyone. Every year, more Serbian tourists visit Laško, drawn by its great location, comfortable rooms, top-notch cuisine, thermal park, and welcoming hosts.
Active Holidays and the Capital's Charm
Our next stop was Terme Snovik in the beautiful Kamnik Valley. Its proximity to Ljubljana (a 20-minute drive) and the Krvavec ski resort makes it an excellent base for an active holiday.
Arriving in the Slovenian capital, we checked into the Grand Hotel Union. Located just steps from the Ljubljanica River and the Triple Bridge in the strict city center, it is the perfect choice for both business and leisure travelers.
Our group toured the city center using "Kavalirs"—free electric vehicles that operate in the pedestrian zone. Our friendly drivers took us up to the Ljubljana Castle. We toured the medieval fortress and watched a fascinating short film about this ancient stronghold, which steadfastly guards the city and sees growing visitor numbers each year. Afterwards, we descended into the city and visited Hotel Park, enjoying lunch in the hotel restaurant, which is always bustling with guests thanks to its excellent food and affordable prices.
Conclusion at Natour Alpe-Adria
At the end of our journey, we visited Slovenia’s leading tourism fair, the 28th Natour Alpe-Adria. Here, our travel agency representatives had ample time to hold productive B2B meetings with various exhibitors, successfully wrapping up this comprehensive FAM trip.
