Atlantic Brands, Barcaffe and TU Events organised a FAM Trip from 20 to 22 October 2026 for hotel F&B managers, as well as professionals from the corporate sector.
The programme combined an insight into coffee production, a visit to the international TriestEspresso Expo, and a range of gastronomic and cultural experiences along the Slovenian coast, in the hinterland of Slovenian Istria and in Trieste.
The trip began with a departure from Belgrade and a visit to Gramona Farm, a family-owned olive farm. Participants learned about olive cultivation and production, followed by a tasting of olive oils and a selection of olive-based products, gaining insight into local traditions and production methods. The group then travelled to Portorož and checked in at Remisens Hotel Metropol, where the afternoon was reserved for relaxation and the hotel's spa and wellness facilities.
The second day focused on the coffee industry. Participants visited Barcaffe's production facilities in Izola, where they learned about the production process and the importance of coffee quality in the hospitality sector. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the needs of hotels and potential cooperation with the brand.
The programme continued in Trieste with a visit to TriestEspresso Expo, an international trade fair bringing together professionals from the coffee industry and showcasing new products, technologies and trends. In addition to exploring the exhibition and attending educational workshops, participants had the opportunity to discover solutions relevant to hotel restaurants and bars, followed by free time in Trieste.
In the evening, a guided tour of Piran was organised in Serbian, introducing participants to the history and architecture of this charming coastal town. The day concluded with dinner at Restaurant Pirat, where participants enjoyed a selection of fresh local fish and seafood specialities, served in the spirit of tapas-style dining. The group then returned to the hotel.
The final day was dedicated to local gastronomy and exploring the hinterland of Slovenian Istria. After checking out, participants embarked on a truffle-hunting experience that turned into a memorable adventure. The programme concluded with a tasting and lunch at Gold Istra restaurant, offering an introduction to the region's local flavours and culinary traditions. After lunch, the group departed for Belgrade.
The FAM Trip combined professional insights with local gastronomy and destination experiences. For hotel directors and F&B managers, such encounters provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, explore new ideas and discover solutions that can enhance food and beverage offerings, service quality and the overall guest experience.
