Slovenia: Beyond the Familiar – An Active FAM Trip Experience
Posted by TU Events on .
For two years, TU Events and the Slovenian Tourist Board have promoted Slovenia through themed study trips for travel agencies from Serbia and the region. This edition highlighted active holiday destinations and drew participants beyond Serbia, including two agency representatives from Croatia.
Bohinj and Bled: Eco-Luxury and Alpine Traditions
Our journey began in Bohinjska Bistrica at the Bohinj ECO Hotel, the first and only hotel in Slovenia with a Green Globe certificate. This luxurious property features over 100 rooms, an impressive aqua park, and versatile congress halls.
Lake Bohinj: Located just a few kilometers from the hotel, this crystal-clear lake sits within the Triglav National Park.
Activities: The group enjoyed a tasting of the famous Bohinj cheese, followed by water activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and SUP.
Vogel: A cable car ride to Mount Vogel (1,922m) provided breathtaking views, followed by a gourmet dinner at the recommended Restaurant Resje.
The trip continued to Bled, where we visited the iconic Grand Hotel Toplice, Hotel Park, and the newly renovated Rikli Balance Hotel (formerly Hotel Golf), all part of the Sava Hotels group.
Adventure in the Soča Valley and Kranjska Gora
The Alpine exploration moved to Kranjska Gora, visiting Hotel Špik and the diverse portfolio of the HIT Alpinea group. Moving toward the Soča River valley, we reached Bovec for an adrenaline-fueled experience:
Zipline Europe: We tackled the largest zipline in Europe, featuring ten tracks over four kilometers in length, managed by the expert team at Soča Rafting.
Kobarid: This town is the birthplace of our Slovenian study trip initiative. We visited X Point, the oldest agency specializing in rafting and paragliding, followed by the family-run Hotel Hvala and its fine-dining restaurant Topli Val.
Nova Gorica and the "Slovenian Tuscany"
Our next stop was Nova Gorica, a city famous for its gaming industry. We toured Hotels Perla and Park, operated by the HIT d.d. group, before heading to the border-side charm of Hotels Lipa and Sabotin.
The journey then led into Goriška Brda, often called the "Slovenian Tuscany":
Gonjače Viewpoint: Offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the vineyards.
Šmartno: This idyllic village is a protected cultural monument. Highlights included olive oil tastings and a visit to Hotel San Martin, which boasts a "million-dollar view" from its terrace.
Green Capital and Mountain Highs
In Ljubljana, we visited the historic Ljubljana Castle and Hotel Park, the greenest hotel in the city center, known for its popular restaurant and sustainable approach.
The adventure concluded with two unique stays:
1. Golte Plateau: Staying at Hotel Golte (1,410m), participants hiked to the summit lake and enjoyed domestic products at a traditional mountain inn.
2. Herbal Glamping Resort Ljubno: A perfect harmony of nature and luxury on the Savinja River.
Our five-day journey ended in Rogaška Slatina at the newly opened Atlantida Boutique Hotel, a five-star luxury property that continues to set high standards in the region.
