Slovenia: A Journey Through History, Nature, Gastronomy, and the Noble White Horses
Posted by TU Events on .
While Slovenia is known for autumn wellness and winter sports, a summer FAM trip for regional influencers showed it offers equally compelling warm-season experiences. TU Events, with partners, revealed a unique blend of rich heritage and modern luxury.
From the Cradle of Lipizzaners to Medieval Gems
The journey began in Lipica, the historic home of the world-famous Lipizzaner horses. Founded in 1580, this estate offers a unique look into equestrian history. A highlight was the Lipikum Museum, where the architectural design mirrors the life of a Lipizzaner—starting in dark rooms (as foals are born black) and gradually transitioning into pure white spaces as the horses age.
After a refined fine-dining experience at Restaurant Gratia within the stylish Hotel Maestoso, the group headed to Štanjel. This medieval "pearl of the Karst" enchanted everyone with its 15th-century fortifications, narrow stone streets, and the stunning Ferrari Garden. The day concluded with a warm welcome at the Zajc Brewery in Cerkno, featuring craft beers and traditional Bavarian-style pretzels.
Alpine Idyls and Prehistoric Secrets
Waking up at 1,300 meters above sea level at Alpska Perla, guests were greeted by breathtaking views of Mount Triglav. The day’s adventure led to the Divje Babe archaeological site. Inside a cave high above the river, the group explored the site where the world’s oldest musical instrument—a Neanderthal flute made from bear bone—was discovered in 1995. The experience was enhanced by state-of-the-art artistic video projections on the cave walls.
The afternoon was dedicated to relaxation at the Terme Cerkno thermal center, followed by a visit to a deeply moving historical site: the Franja Partisan Hospital. This hidden World War II hospital, tucked away in a remote gorge, stands as a symbol of an incredibly organized underground healthcare system.
Coastal Vibes, Gastronomy, and Luxury Glamping
In Velenje, the group enjoyed the vibrant Velenje Beach before participating in the "Dolga Miza" (Long Table) event in the old town core, where local pasta was served on a 50-meter-long table. Dinner at Vila Herberstein provided a fairy-tale ending to the day, as deer from the nearby forest emerged to greet the guests.
The night was spent at Langus Glamping, a perfect example of "luxury under the stars." These high-end cabins offer the serenity of nature without sacrificing
Underground Adventures and Treetop Walks
The final day took a dramatic turn at the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia. Dressed in traditional mining uniforms, the group descended 160 meters underground to experience the daily life of miners through an immersive 90-minute tour.
The journey concluded with a visit to the Lamperček Homestead, famous for its domestic delicacies and deer park, and finally Rogla. At Rogla, the group walked among the clouds on the Treetop Walk, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in this part of Europe, before bidding farewell to Slovenia with a traditional Pohorski lonac (Pohorje pot) stew.
