Promotion of the Tourism Board of Kvarner for the Media

Kvarner presented itself to Belgrade as a destination of exceptional natural beauty, rich historical and cultural heritage, and excellent wellness and medical tourism opportunities—but above all, as the European Region of Gastronomy for 2026.
On February 6, a press and influencer conference was held at Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade, where the tourism offerings of the Kvarner region were presented. The presentation followed the region’s leading tourism event, the TU Sun&Sea Workshop, where 40 exhibitors from Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Croatia, including seven from Kvarner, as well as from outside the region, Greece and Austria, showcased their offerings for the upcoming summer season to a carefully selected group of tourism buyers.
Renata Vincek, Project Manager at Tourism Board of Kvarner, welcomed the attending media, influencers, Workshop participants, and other guests, emphasizing that Kvarner is a year-round destination that celebrates diversity.
Thanks to its Mediterranean climate and abundant sunny days, the swimming season in Kvarner lasts from May to October. Its wellness tourism and climatic health resorts, with a tradition spanning 180 years—commonly known as the ‘Kvarner Effect’—have a beneficial impact on human health. In addition, Kvarner offers over 3,000 marked hiking and cycling trails, roads, and promenades, 40 diving sites, and ideal conditions for sailing and cruising,” said Renata, adding that the Kvarner region is recognized as one of the most attractive tourist destinations both regionally and beyond.
With its unique location, the wild beauty of its mountains, and the enchanting blue of the Adriatic, Kvarner stands out as a truly one-of-a-kind global destination. Every season in Kvarner tells an unforgettable story, and there is no shortage of must-visit locations: the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera, the Rijeka Ring, the Opatija Riviera, Gorski Kotar, as well as the islands of Cres, Lošinj, Rab, and Krk.
“However, what I would like to highlight as the main focus of this address is the fact that Kvarner has been named the ‘European Region of Gastronomy’ for 2026. This is an important milestone that emphasizes one of the region’s greatest strengths: its excellent and diverse cuisine paired with local, indigenous wines. Years of initiatives in gastronomy development and promotion—such as the Kvarner Gourmet and Kvarner Food projects, Kvarner Wines, as well as quality recognitions like Michelin, Gault&Millau, JRE, and certifications of origin for local food products—have further strengthened gastronomy as a key reason for visitors to come. All of this is now crowned with the title of European Region of Gastronomy, affirming the true identity of Kvarner on both the European and global stage,” emphasized Renata.
The presentation concluded with a prize draw for the attending influencers and media representatives. The prizes were awarded by Lošinj Hotels & Villas and Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa.
